Please note, due to the embroidery process some of our patches come with very minor imperfections. While it is considered normal for iron-on patches to have the occasional rogue or loose thread we decided to go an extra step and grade them. Rest assured that regardless of which grade you select you will receive a high quality patch! As we do not sell anything below B-Grade for patches, as you can see by our grading scale below.


A GRADE
A grade patches are scrutinized primarily on the embroidered surface (the front of the patch). The sides of the patch are scrutinized to a much lower degree as they contain the seams or trailing threads. And the back of the patches are not scrutinized except with regards to integrity of the iron-on film. Generally, these are patches with minor flaws that are only noticeable up close and under bright light. They may include:

Single loose thread of another color, for example a blue thread within a gold section.
Slight variations of thickness on lettering
Tiny bump somewhere on the edge where the thread seam started.

These patches are sold at full price and are perfect for those with an eye for detail. Approximately half of our patches are A-Grade (this shows the variability of embroidery)

B GRADE AKA 'Seconds'
These patches have slightly more noticeable flaws that can be seen under inspection but hey that's part of their charm. B Grade patches are scrutinized primarily on the embroidered surface (the front of the patch). The sides of the patch are scrutinized to a much lower degree as they contain the seams or trailing threads. And the back of the patches are not scrutinized except with regards to integrity of the iron-on film. B grade patches are best to be worn, great for costumes and the like. Flaws for B-Grade may include:

Stray thread running across a letter or design element.
One or multiple loose threads within another color.
Minor run of a thread across a section, appears as as if a single thread may be missing.
Slight or moderate variations of thickness on lettering.

These patches are sold at 20% off. Approximately 35% of our patches are B-Grade.

C GRADE & Below
We do not sell C-Grade & below, they are given to friends and family. Approximately 15% of our patches are C-Grade & below.
